Does this seem like a waste of money to anyone else! These things look like a bigger, slower, and more expensive Segway. The T3 comes in at about 7800$ dollars where as a Segway ranges from 1400-4000 dollars. I understand that walking around a parking lot all day looking for intruders is rough but isn’t that why we have security cameras. I would like to get other people’s opinion on this as the video that metro provides makes the T3 look completely useless. Why not arm a regular Segway with a machine gun that would scare the crap out of the wannabe car thieves.

One positive thing is that they are electric. But right now just doesn’t seem like the time to be advertising that you are spending money on these when it could be spent in much better places.

Now this is not Metro PD’s fault as I think they do a good job but could the money not be spent elsewhere like dummy cars or something more intuitive. I think WMATA should look into spending money to prevent delays and fixing other issues before the T3′s.
