Street Cars for DC
Street cars for DC! Wow I love this idea. I think its great that our city is trying to improve its public transportation. It really does good things for the environment, property values, and the city itself. I think it will bring a lot more ease and convenience to getting around as well. So on to the details…
The plan calls out for over 45 miles city wide network of energy-efficient street cars. The first phase of these street cars start in SouthEast connecting street cars throughout Anacostia and right by the new Department of Homeland Security headquarters. The street cars are facing some hard oppisition as many members of the council are against it. They are planning to use overhead lines and in some places batteries. The Anacostia street car line is not slated to be finished until 2012 but check out this site below to continue the street car movement!
