Restaurant Week Spent at PS7′s

Written By: Veronica  on September 9, 2009 No Comment

So last year for DC Restaurant Week I had reservations for PS 7′s in the Penn Quarter area of DC.  But due to last minute family shit, I was unable to eat there and had to give my reservations to a friend (I was not very happy with that decision).  So of course, this year I wanted to actually eat there.  And I’m so happy that I did!

For our first of three courses, Van ordered the Roasted Onion Soup and I had the Tomato and Saffron-Steamed P.E.I Mussels. The Onion soup was pretty much a classic French Onion Soup but MUCH sweeter.  A bit too sweet for my liking, but Van enjoyed it… I think.  My mussels were good, but nothing more than ordinary about how they prepared them.

During our main courses, Van and I came to the realization that when it comes to food, I tend to always order some type of hearty full flavored meat and he usually gets some sort of delicate fish.  It came after he had ordered the Cornmeal Fried Trout and, of course being me, I got the Beef Tenderloin.  Usually within just a few bites of our entrees Van and I cut off pieces of our dishes and place them onto each others plates so that we both can taste what the other ordered.  Van’s trout was good but I thought that the cornmeal crust was too thick.  Now when it came to MY dish all Van and I were able to say was “………”! YEAH, my FLAWLESS dish left the both of us speechless.  Enough said about that!

For the conclusion of our meal…Van of course went delicate with a very refreshing Strawberry Shortcake made with mascarpone cheese; whereas I went bold with the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar and a cappuccino.

PS 7′s is, in my eyes, a VERY good restaurant and one worth visiting outside of restaurant week.  Oh!  I forgot to note the size of these dishes!  Considering we ate there during restaurant week, I expected MUCH smaller portions, but to my dismay, they were actually pretty large.  I couldn’t even finish my flawless dish; Van had to do it for me.
