Went here for lunch over the weekend. Wasnt crazy packed but wasn’t empty either. This place looked like a hole in the wall from the outside, but the prices are on par with “fancier” looking restaurants. I ordered my favorite which is pad sew ew beef, super delicious. Portions were a bit smaller than anticipated for $11. However, you get a bowl of rice to accompany your noodle dish..? I’ve never seen this before and am guessing it’s meant to be a filler since the noodle portions are smaller. But with the rising price of rise, I’m not sure how this makes sense economically. Also ordered was pad Thai shrimp and the chicken basil. He pad thai was a bit sweet, I’ve never tasted one like it, I guess each person’s palate will receive it differently but I wasn’t a huge fan. I’ll stick with my pad see ew. The chicken basil was awesome, the meat was minced and well flavored. Sauce was light and deeply flavored. They also have a dim sum menu on the weekends, I didn’t know Thai cuisine had dim sum. On the menu they’re called “small plates.”. I didn’t get the chance to try but they sounded like traditional Thai appetizers, but served in smaller portions. Did get to sample the Tom yum soup which was very good. It was also $5 a bowl. I liked the thin broth and spicy kick it had to it. Also had a ton of mushrooms and big shrimp in it. I’m not a Tom yum connoisseur so I’ll let you judge if it is worth it.
The restaurant itself was nicely decorated, narrow in width, with an overlooking loft that would’ve been cool to sit on. This place is a sister restaurant of Duangrats, which happens to be less than a quarter of a block away. Not sure how this makes sense financially, perhaps they’re profit sharing. Either way, check them out.
