Last week Paul and I dropped by Pho DC for some dinner before a movie in Chinatown. I’ve been going to this place for a few years now and usually order the vegetarian Pho (probably lame to some but whatever). I’ve busted out of my pseudo vegan-pescetarianism lately and find myself ordering yard bird on an occasional basis so I followed Paul’s lead and went with the #6, Pho Ga (shredded chicken). The chicken was more sliced than shredded but it had really good flavor and the broth was quite delicious. Pho DC should think about serving their sauces in something other than shallow white ramekins, though. While they make for a nice table presentation, they don’t cut it for those of us who like lots of Sriracha in our soup. We also split an order of Garden Rolls that were pretty bland but the beer and Tom Collins made up for it.
Overall, I’ve been very happy with the meals at Pho DC and would recommend it as one of the few decent Asian places in C’Town. As a resident who loves his neighborhood, this statement is kinda depressing. Maybe the whole of Annandale will move back someday?….please?
