I have noticed Nando’s for a while now but have never been in. I was partying at Spot Lounge a few months ago and I saw Nando’s Chicken place which is right next to it. So I figured I would have to try it. Last Saturday three months later I tried Nando’s and man do I wish I had tried it sooner. I don’t even know how to describe as I have never really been to a restaurant like this. It is decorated very well and up to par with a lot of expensive restaurants in the area. Yet you order from the counter and the food is brought to you. Not to mention they serve pretty decent quality wine. I will walk you through my full dining experience at Nando’s so you can get an idea of how much it rocks!
You walk in to Nando’s and are greeted by a host who gives you a number corresponding to the table you are going to sit at. So you get a menu at your table and decide what you are going to order and then you go to the front counter and order it. I go
t a half of chicken, fries, and Portuguese rice. The chicken comes in multiple flavors extra hot(what I got), hot, mild, and lime and herb. You then pay, give them your table number, and then wait for your food at your table. When I saw the guy bringing my half of a chicken I knew it was going to be good it looked moist from halfway across the room. When he set it down in front of me I could smell the herbs and spices which was a very nice aroma. The chicken was moist and full of flavor it was actually pretty spicy which is hard to find these days. You can also get multiple sauces from a sauce bar. They have about 8 different kinds but my favorite was the wild herb one. For dessert they have an all you can eat frozen yogurt machine. They only had chocolate flavor but it was pretty good. One thing I will have to say is that after eating I was a mess I had chicken all over my hands and face. I am a little bit of a messy eater but I felt like I needed to take a shower afterwords. So it is probably not the best date spot but fits for anything else.
I loved Nando’s and think most other people will to. It is reasonably priced good quality food. It is hard to find that in Dupont Circle let alone Washington D.C. So if you like chicken and cheap good food check out Nando’s. There is also one in Chinatown which I have not been to yet.
