I went to Lyon Hall with a buddy recently on a boys night out. I had been to Lyon Hall to have drinks, but I had never ate there. We walked in around 8pm on a Thursday and the restaurant area was already full. Lyon Hall has a nice layout with the bar straight ahead and seating to the right and left. It is dimly lit with lighter tones which kind of gives it an interesting look. When we decided to sit in the bar are took some seating in the area and started the pleasurable dining and drinking experience.
We both ended up getting some great beers of which they have a massive selection. We decided to get some appetizers as we were both starving. I ended up ordering Mussels Frites and my buddy ended up getting the special which I can’t remember for the life of me which is sad because it was good. The Mussels Frites were fantastic and full of flavor. The sauce for the mussels were white wine, garlic, and parsley which tasted great when you dipped the frites. The mussels were cooked perfectly and the sauce was the perfect additive. For my entree I ended up getting the Veal Sauerbraten with spaetzal and an oat pancake. I normally don’t eat Veal, but I decided to go for it. I was sure glad I did the veal basically melted in my mouth, it was full of flavor and goodness. The spaetzle and pancake were light and complimented the veal as well. My buddy go the beef short ribs with sweet potato puree with red cabbage and red wine jus. I just got one bite, but the cabbage with short rib made for a great combination.
Overall Lyon Hall is one of my new favorite places in Arlington. It works out great for drinking or eating and I enjoyed both.A cool thing to note is that Lyon Hall has one of the more interesting bathrooms, there is faux mirror you actually look directly into the opposite sexes bathroom. The reason it is so deceiving is because the girls bathroom looks exactly the same. It shocked me at first, but it is actually a really cool bathroom.
