After a long bike ride a few friends and I decided to check out Lauriol Plaza. I have wanted to check out this place for a while now, but had not had a chance. Lauriol Plaza is located at the bottom of Adams Morgan. The decor and general setup of this restaurant is beautiful and provides ample outside and inside seating.
So on to my experience. We decided to get a table outside and there was a little confusion in the beginning. We wanted to sit outside and ended up getting two hostess pulling the group in separate directions. This was a little confusing and frustrating as one of the hostess showed us a little attitude, which is never acceptable. After this debacle was finished we got seated and were able to get situated. We ordered some Deus XXs and Sangria and we got them got them quite quickly. The sangria and beer were fantastic especially on a hot summers day. When the drinks came out we also got some really high quality chips and salsa. Since there were a lot of us i got a lot of good pics of different dishes. However I only got to try a bite or two of everyone else dishes, but the two that stood out were the costillas and the beef fajitas. They were both pretty good. I ordered the chicken tacos which were decent, but a little soggy. I had gotten the hard shell as I wanted some texture. The tacos did have lots of flavor, but not as much as I suspected from quality Mexican food. Their was also no heat which is what I really wanted.
Overall I think Lauriol Plaza does have quality Mexican food in a great setting, but I am not convinced it is the best you can find in Washington D.C.. I think there are a few places with better food. The best Mexican place in my opinion is still Guajillo’s.
