Josephine DC

Josephine DC!!!! Wow what a different experience from all the other nightclubs in DC. It feels like you are rich in Paris (even if you feel poor after leaving)! Josephine DC has the most unique decoration I have seen in a long time and is the most unique in DC.  Josephine also has a cool factor that cannot be touched by any other club in DC.

OK so Josephine DC has everything you could want in a good night club a different style, multiple DJs spinning different music, a great looking staff, and a great ambiance.

The decor of Josephine DC is quite interesting.  I have heard described as many different things but my favorite is chic French.  It is modern but classic at the same time.  Josephine takes older decor and makes it sexy.  It is kind of hard to explain but if you check out the pictures to the left you will understand.  The lighting inside of Josephine rivals some of the best lit clubs in DC like Saki, Midtown, and Spot.   As the lights change color it changes the ambiance of the room your in.  The different colors make for a great environment.

The music at Josephine DC is always good I visited a few times and always enjoyed the music.  The door can be strict but if your going to the best night club in DC you should dress nice and get there early.  Josephine DC has had many rants  and raves as you can see on the following link to Yelp.  Josephine on Yelp.  It seems that most peoples complaints about Josephine DC revolve around the expensive drinks and door policies.  I have had bad experiences at night clubs as has everyone one else.  I do think that door policies are a must as they allow the club to pick and choose who goes inside.  If you want the VIP privilege you can buy it.  If you can’t afford then you are probably going to have to wait in line.  Jospehine does have a very strict dress code so dress your best and good luck with sneakers (although I have seen people get in with them).  Josephine is a pretentious place, with expensive drinks, and a strict dress code.  If you like looking good, great music, and beautiful people its worth the extra cash.  If you don’t then don’t go.

DC city Blog’s Review

Josephine currently has the pole position amongst clubs in the K Street area. With its über-exclusive door policy it is something of a departure from typical clubs in the area. Josephine is actually my favorite club in DC and offers one of the hottest scenes that this area has seen in years.

Cost – $$$

Service – B+
The door policy at Josephine has been something of a debated topic (see the conversation below). They definitely have a more exclusive door policy than most other clubs in the area and this rubs some people the wrong way. The filter does result in a pretty good crowd once you do get in. Once you are in the staff couldn’t be friendlier and it certainly doesn’t hurt that every single waitress in the venue is a hottie and Jill, the beautiful blonde who is often at the front door, is one of the stars in the DC nightlife industry.

Decor – A-

The interior of Josephine is pretty cool. I heard some people refer to it as ‘bland’ but I sort of like it. Fritz Hahn from the Washington Post refers to it as “retro-chic French” and I believe that is fairly accurate. The space is actually fairly substantial and accommodates several different areas with different feels.

Feel – A
Josephine has managed to bring something completely new to the DC area and I commend them for that. I know that many people have a problem with their door policy but they should ante up with their friends and buy a table or find some other way to get on the list. Exclusivity equals a hotter crowd. If you want a laid-back experience with no guff at the door then go to Marvin or Eighteenth Street Lounge. If you want hot girls, expensive drinks and a sexy ambiance – then figure out how to get into Josephine.
