Food & Friends presents Chef’s Best – a Recap

On Monday June 27th, George and I had the honor to attend the 21st Annual Chef’s Best Dinner & Auction held at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Dupont Circle thanks to Paul.  As far a fun foodie events go, and the ones that I have been able to attend, this one was one of the busiest!  On the website, it says that there would be 65 tasting tables but in real life, it felt like so much more.  Since George and I had passes to the V.I.P. Reception, we were able to have a sneak peak of the restaurants upstairs and didn’t realize that there were many many more downstairs where the auction took place!  Unfortunately by the time we made it downstairs, he and I were so full that we weren’t able to be as gung ho about making it to all the tables.  We did however scope out the best ones to try.  The highlight of the night was definitely Farrah Olivia in Oldtown Alexandria, VA.  With all honesty, with all that we tasted, I can’t really point out what they had, but I do remember saying to myself and to George that they were by far the best there!

The over all experience of the entire event was a lot of fun. It was filled with a lot of great food that gave way for a great cause.  The only really down side to the whole thing is that it was way too crowded.  After awhile it felt like we were playing “bumper people”.  However that is something that can very much be over looked as long as there’s amazing food involved.
