Edy’s Chicken and Steak Restaurant

060409 078Edy’s Chicken is one of the best places to go to get a fantastic and reasonably priced meal.  I have eaten here a few  times over the years and every time I go there I find my self wishing that it was closer to my house.

So I will start be describing Edy’s  it is a walk up place in that you order your food at the counter and wait at your table or in line to receive your food.  It usually takes about 5-15 minutes depending on how busy it is.  Its not particularly nice inside but its OK for a fast food restaurant.  There menu basically focuses around the size of chicken you want or steak.  You can also get drinks and sides with some of their combos.

I was eating with 5 people so we got 1 and a half chickens. This was the perfect amount.  Along with the chicken we got french fries , fried yuca, and salad.   The Yuca and french fries tasted great although I usually try and stay away from fried foods.  I could not stop eating the Yuca it was so good!  The salad was good as it was light on the dressing and fresh.

So on to the Chicken!!!! It was fantastic  crunchy but not oily, it was just delicious.  It had a lot of juice which naturally made it very moist.  The chicken held the flavor of the different herbs and spices so well that you could taste it all through out the meat.  They give you two sauces to dip the chicken in.  The give you a green spicy sauce which is my favorite and a mayonnaise based yellow sauce that is good too.

Edy’s chicken and steak is great place to go after a night of drinking.  It seems to take away that alcoholic hunger and drunkenness.

Yuca – check, chicken – can’t efff that up, aji verde – check. Only thing that kinda blows at Edy’s is their rice. It tends to be overcooked and isn’t seasoned like other Peruvian establishments like *cough cough* LA GRANJA De Oro*
