Dodge City

At the moment I walked into Dodge City.  I notice tattooed punks, dark rimmed glasses, death metal music, and Miller Hi-Life.   And best of all, NO COVER! Already I thought to myself, “this is going to be fun experience”.

This bar is affiliated with Velvet Lounge and Black Cat.   If you enjoy those places then you probably would like this cleaner and quieter dive bar.  Before Dodge City existed, it was Kingpin.   There’s still regulars who spring in to this spot because they kept the bartenders from the previous space.

When I entered the 1st floor, the seating  consist of 2 tables(enough to seat 4-6 people) and 8 stools at the bar.  When the floor got crowded,  several people started crowding behind the bar stools and settled against the walls.      I could only imagine how it would be like on a Friday or Saturday night.   The second floor is  where everyone gets their dance on.  They have local DJ’s jam from metal to Hip-Hop.  Very good selection of both genres.  There’s also another bar and  more stools and benches where you can sit and chit chat with your spiky Mohawk companion.

They have an above-average beer selection.  12 taps (Founders Porter, Victory Gold Monkey, Bell’s Oberon, etc.. and 11 bottles (Miller Hi Life, Budlight, and that’s all I could remembered before blacking out (just kidding…maybe).   Beer from the tap run up to 6-8 bucks.  Bottles are 3 to 6 dollars.

I heard that they also serve food but didn’t get the chance to see the menu. hmmm…  I’ll definitely be coming back to this place.
