DC was recently ranked the 9th most stressful city in America by Forbes Magazine (article here). I think D.C. is pretty stressed with the whole economy in limbo. I think DC did a good job of not being higher on the list by having the lowest unemployment rate while being the 9th largest metropolitan area. I think D.C. seems to have dodged the bullet as anyone working on Capitol Hill can tell you that the stress is on
Washington, D.C.’s low air quality, for which it ranks seventh, and high cost of living, for which it ranks fifth, puts this ninth-largest metropolitan statistical area in the top 10. Its 6.6% June unemployment rate, however, is the lowest of the 40 metro areas we examined.
The D.C. area will only get more stressed with the upcoming decisions that our city will have to make. These include the economy, health care, and others. I think a little more relaxation and exercise would help bring the cities stress level down.
