Ceiba Restaurant DC
I went to Ceiba on a Friday night with no reservation. My date and I only had to wait about 15 minutes which was not bad at all. The hostess at Ceiba was very nice and made conversation with us which was nice. Ceiba’s ambiance of the place was great it had perfect lighting for a nice date feel. I got this 32 ounce beer which was great although I cannot remember the name of it.
So when we got seated the waitress came out with this large piece of pita like bread and a pumpkin seed and bean salsa. It was so good I ate almost all of it. As an appetizer we ordered the Ceviche sampler which included the Yucatan Shrimp, Wild Striped Bass, Yellowfin Tuna, and Peruvian Ceviche. The Yucatan Shrimp ceviche was my least favorite it tasted similar to a fancy shrimp salsa. The wild striped bass was pretty good and had a little kick to it which made it even better The yellow fin tuna ceviche was almost like a papaya salad with fish which was my favorite. The Peruvian ceviche was good as well it tasted fresh and healthy.
For my entrée I went cheap with the Grilled Octopus Salad. It was a small portion but I wasn’t that hungry anyways. It was great the octopus was cooked perfectly and was so tender. It was a little spicy which ended up with a fresh cilantro taste.
My date had the seared scallops which included some great capers brown butter and a citrus flavor. They were cooked perfectly and tasted so great. She loved them and so did I. Ceiba’s dessert selection was vast but we ended up sharing the coconut Tres Leches cake. This was one of the best desserts I had in a while. It was light fluffy and tasted great. The coconut was mixed in so well and just added perfectly to the light cake taste.
Overall Ceiba is one of the better restaurants I have been to lately. The service was great and so was the food. I left full but not feeling pregnant. I cannot wait to go back again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
