Alas! I have been searching for great French Food in D.C. and I have found it! Cafe Bonaparte you really tickled my fancy. Every time I go to try Bistro Du Coin the wait is too long and I tried Bistro Bistro, but was extremely disappointed. We got reservations at Cafe Bonaparte and arrived a little early our table was not ready so stopped buy Cafe Puro which was a nice before dinner treat. I had walked by Cafe Bonaparte before but have never really looked in I did not realize how small it was. We got a seat in the back which was quite cozy. There is not much room in there so you are seated quite close to your neighbors.
The service was great the food came out on time and the waitress was very informed. On the left you can see the beautiful Moules Frites which are Mussels sautéed in white wine, garlic, and shallots served with fries. They were ridiculous I never had mussels with this much flavor the garlic, shallots, and wine mixed for a wonderful taste in my mouth. I almost wish I had ordered them instead of my girlfriend. The hand cut fries were thick and seasoned which tasted great when dipped into the mussels sauce. I could hardly keep a smile off of my face while trying to eat them. OK so on to my entree the Beef Bouginion which was just as amazing. As you can see from the picture on the right it looked pretty good. It was burgundy braised beef & sauteed seasonal vegetables. I choose to get mine with the egg noodles which turned out great. The sauce the beef and noodles were in was amazing it had so much flavor. I destroyed it leaving nothing but a clean white plate. We were tempted in looking at the dessert menu but decided against it as we wanted to walk around Georgetown before it got dark. I will definitely be returning to Cafe Bonaparte and think everyone else should give it a try as well.
